K is for Kentucky - 2nd Attempt

Sorry yesterday just didn't feel right to post this.
Kentucky is one of those places where you just have strong feelings.  When I started work after college, my aunt told me I would know who lived there.  I laughed.  Then six months later, I had to admit - the accent literally changes on the banks of the Ohio river and I can instantly tell if someone lives there.
I have so many good memories of going down to Lexington for Ichthus.  The drive out of Lexington was so pretty through horse country.  A lot of it has given way to suburban sprawl though there are still some pretty homes.  Who knows what's going to happen with Ichthus now?  I probably could have done I on Ichthus, but another time.  And I do know we will touch on it near the end.
Anyway, there are so many good memories of everything there.  From sleeping on a tarp in the sun, to bonding with my youth, to being a teen and sneaking into town instead going to a teaching seminar.  They are very much the defining memories of the past twenty plus years of my life.
I've also been on trips to Louisville and Lake Cumberland, and I've enjoyed them.
Then we come to the other part.  The part for me that defines the state.  It's the "holler," hillbilly for hollow.  My Dad's family is from there.  I pride myself on being educated, having a nice job, for bathing on a regular basis.  For not  being a hillbilly redneck.  Then you come to my father's family.....  What kind of Christian lady gets a college education and not a husband?  Um, this one.  I, also, do like to bathe on as close to a daily  basis as possible.  I know it makes me a spoiled brat.
So that leaves me with K for Kentucky.  A state a like in theory, but when I get up close and personal, I just get my hackles up.

In my mind, I had a funny snarky post in mind today.  It just doesn't feel right at this moment.  Check back tomorrow.
Praying for everyone who's been affected by today.

H is for husky

Did you expect anything else but husky?  More specifically, Siberian Husky.   Did you not suspect it after the Iditarod posts?  We've always had them and I'm using this as an excuse to show off some photos.

MINE!

Not mine but an adorable image I found online.  The black one in the middle isn't a husky.

Blitzen is just the happiest looking dog.

F is for Frankenmuth

I thought today I would share one of my favorite vacation spots.  We go to Michigan at least once a year.  y We usually split the drive into two days to spend some time in Frankenmuth.  It's a little Bavarian town with one of the largest Christmas shops in the world.  One of my friends moved to Michigan last summer.  Three of us met her there for a four day weekend last fall.  I thought I'd share some photos to best tell the story.
Bronner's (Christmas store) float from the Christmas parade.

One year there was a hot air balloon festival and balloon glow, such a fun change.

Balloon glow

Dad and Wally Bronner, the founder of the store.  Wally died a few years ago.  He asked where we were from and when we gave the nearby city.  He said now that means suburb A or B.  Yes, A is where we live.

Me and Santa.  I can't tell you how many times I have posed by him.

Part of the Frankenmuth Jellystone campground.  A top notch campground.

Our camper.  This one had so many flat tires we traded it in.

The Bavarian village looking shopping mall.  Just fun touristy stuff.

Balloon glow.  I thought this picture turned out awesome.

Cheese Haus (free samples!) welcome mouse and me.

E is for Easter

I wasn't home from 7am - 11:45 so yesterday's post didn't exactly happen.  I was going to post my comments on my sermon notes from Easter Sunday.  Since I'm so late, I'm just going to post my notes.
I am sending you!
Happy Easter
Passover meal-big deal
This is my body - dang it Cory
Blasphemy suffered a very painful death.
Does it look like hate won ? Why i didn't like The Rockettes greatest story
ever told because it left Jesus on the cross. If you do that it's a story. If he
did rise again then you have to admit he is God.
Matthew 28:5
John 20
Women who couldn't testify in court saw him first. I love this. Why do that
except its the truth and for us today to see that He valued women
Joy comes in the morning (Anne of the Island)
We all want the happy ending
Dancing - David is it in Samuel where he dances when the child dies?
Peace in the midst of conflict or freedom from conflict - something I need to
reflect in
Nick someone he has no limbs. A friend shared a video of him not to long ago.
On the cross Jesus looked down on all of us and said Forgive them.
Our job is to share His story

D is for DC Talk

I wasn't sure what to do for D, maybe dog but then I started thinking....
D is for decent, I mean what I say
But obscene, I don't play that way
C is for Christ, to the i-a-n
That's right y'all, I am born again
That's my tool, my gift to use
R-a-p to spread the news of god
So you know the part now
Now tell the world what's on your heart

Favorite band ever!!!!!  These were the hot, young guys when I was in high school and they split up but still continue to define Christian music.  Here are some of my favorite songs -
Best song most favorite song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Title track of my favorite album - Free at last

They broke up and formed their own bands in 2002.
Michael Tait formed Tait.   I loved this song from Extreme Days.

Then he joined the Newsboys.  This has been one of my recent downloads.

Then Toby formed Tobymac.  The man has such incredible concerts.  I can be "eh" and within three minutes I'm bouncing off the walls.
Diverse City being a defining song for them.

Kevin dropped off for awhile but he just joined Audio Adrenaline, and I have tickets to see them on 4/27

A is for.....

I've signed up for the A-Z challenge!  This isn't going to be easy for me.  As you know it sometimes it takes me a week to get a post posted, but I will try.  I'm not sure if they will be videos or written.  I thought I would do a video this morning, but seriously I'm not a morning person.
So each day except for Sunday, I'll be posting an entry that starts with the letter of the alphabet that corresponds with the day.  Today is A.
A is for A-Z Challenge, what we are starting today.
A is for April, my birthday month!
A is for All about me.  I think I'm not going to tailor it much more.  It's going to be what strikes me that day -tv show, place, memory, whatever.
